Our Grand Reserve designation is for Saperavi that is aged in oak barrels for at least three years. This wine set includes three vintages to compare:

2020 Saperavi Grand Reserve - Rich and iconic. Elderberry, black currant, plum, strawberry jam, cigar box. Lush, youthful, primed wtih life.
2019 Saperavi Grand Reserve - Dark aromas and flavors of earth, smoke, cedar, blackberry, elderberry, and cranberry.
2018 Saperavi Grand Reserve - A deep and soulful wine that lingers nicely on the palate.

Light, crisp, fruit explosion. Red currant, cranberry, lemon oil. Chillable. A highlight for acid lovers.

From the excellent 2020 vintage - this Grand Reserve is elegant with a youthful attitude/edge. Its aromatics are reminiscent of fresh brambles and black cherries and so much more. Smooth on the palate with flavors of black raspberries, currants, and a playful background of oak influences. The finish remains grippy and rich, decand and the wine becomes soft and velvety on the palate.

This opaque, inky wine has deep, dark aromas and flavors of earth, smoke, cedar, blackberry, elderberry, and cranberry. After three years in oak barrels, this vintage of Saperavi has a “classic” feel as a young McGregor Vineyard Saperavi.

Silver Medal, 2024 New York Wine Classic

The wine is palate-filling, very rich, and smooth with well developed tannins. It has tart fruit flavors without any bite- cranberry, elderberry, and black currants. These expansive aromatics are joined with suggestions of pepper, fresh flowers, lightly toasted marshmallow, and ripe elderberries. Silky tannins coat the palate and lend to a very pleasant, long finish.

This is a big, broad, and spacious wine on the palate with a peppery character along with flavors of sweet oak, roasted coconut, spice, black currant, and a touches of serrano pepper, tobacco, and smoke. The finish is smooth and lingering.
